This marks the end of this cycle’s blog series. I don’t ever want to say never, but I think I have said all that I can say in response to everything ‘˜Top Model’. Obviously the show could be termed as a guilty pleasure for me, but in many ways it is more than that. Along with the lowbrow elements of the program, I have had many intellectual cultural anthropological based conversations because of it. At the heart of the show is the celebration of feminine beauty and the power (along with the ability to profit) that beauty gives to young women. On the whole ‘˜modeling’ is the exploitation of that beauty to sell products (sex sells).

Is it just me or is this the weirdest pickle gift out there? I mean, are there more than one of these and if so, WHY? Clearly, if anyone was going to NEED this it would be me and like… um…. no one else in the world? Sure, maybe there are five or six other people that would use this if it was left on their desk, at NIGHT, but did those five people demand a pickle shaped USB port light…for NIGHT BLOGGING? I doubt it.

An effervescent taste sensation.
When I traveled to North Mississippi for Thanksgiving, I found these in a gas station near a small town called Enterprise. I’ve got to admit, I didn’t try them right away… I’ve always been a little hesitant about pork rinds but a few weeks ago, I went to dinner at a new place in New Orleans that serves pimento cheese dip with pork cracklins… and um… that was amazing. So I hung onto my bag of pickle flavored pork rinds and thought I’d try them out with friends at a gathering to watch the Saints game.
They were a HUGE hit amongst us pork rind eaters. One friend deemed them “effervescent”. If you can find these in your area (Golden Flake is a highly regarded Southern brand that has been making pickle flavored potato chips for as long as I can remember) I highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend them. I’ll be stocking up on these the next time I go home and including them in my holiday gift giving!
