(((Zayda's Pickles)))

My prayers have been answered!
Zayda's Pickles are now available online!!!!!

Consider yourself a lucky bastard now, because previously these were a little harder to come by. I seriously encourage you to explore this whole line of products. I can say the pickles and the peppers are amazingly delicious and spicy and I can't wait to try the salsa! You can read my earlier posts about the magic of Zayda's here and here.

Crazy for Tru

Just before Xmas I wished on my blog for a jar of Tru Pickles and Greg Skufca from the Tru Pickle headquarters in Colorado sent me a jar, well, 2 jars actually. The first jar never made it to my door and I suspect my crazy neighbor and I have one more thing in common now, but the second jar (yes, after wishing, I begged) DID arrive and I'm in looooove...!

We really it off and there was a time when we were inseparable. And we still would be if Tru hadn't somehow slowly withdrawn from our relationship...what did I do wrong? Is it because I want to eat you? Please, why can't you last forever? I want you as my "everyday pickles" but everyday there is less of you.

You are so cool, crisp and garlicky with the perfect amount of spice for anyone. If only every jar of pickles on my grocer's shelf was just like you and if only I had a fridge FULL of you all to myself. If you readers live in a place where you can walk into a store and grab these pickles, consider me jealous. Crazy ex-girlfriend jealous. I'm driving by my own fridge right now and seeing if they're in there.

2 left in the jar and about an inch of brine...please don't leave me Tru Pickles!
Can I have your address? It's only fair, you already have mine...and my crazy neighbor's. I swear it wasn't me.

Martha Stewart I am Not

But I can offer you this budget friendly tip that will make you and the pickle freak in your life happy...and warm...and maybe even tingly. The next time you're at the supermarket, invest in a gallon jar of jalapenos and then take whatever less than exciting store bought pickles you have on hand (or "invest" in a jar of these too)
and stick 'em down in the jar of jalapenos.

The longer you leave them in the jar, the HOTTER they will get. Unlike Martha.

super bowl of pickles

It is safe to say that last night's Super Bowl just didn't measure up in New Orleans to last year's Super Bowl. In NOLA we all gathered to watch the game, but at the party I went to, we spent more time with the gumbo than the Black Eyed Peas. I did align myself with the Steelers by eating all items made with cheese the same color as their "terrible towel".

I also ate a few pickles.

Fried pickles made an appearance and I have to say, these were the best homemade fried pickles I've ever had. My friend Brad made them and they were "restaurant quality"! They held their crisp-ity crunch way after leaving their deep fried bath.I tip my hat to whoever gave Brad a deep fryer for Xmas.

A tip of the hat is also due to my friend Daniel. Daniel has already conquered the stage with his band Double Dong and film with his role in Nit Wit. He's conquered fatherhood with 3 children in almost as many years, is a pretty good bowler, can kiss a dog like nobody's business and all while looking good in a pair of cut off jeans short-some would say an impossible feat. He's also taken on pickling and guess what?

HOT DAMN. They make me smile.
They arrived at my door the night before the Super Bowl with their very own label drawn and attached to the jar and the next night they assumed their place on the mighty party table amongst the cheeses and cheese filled things.

Which I then ate.
Sooo...remind me again who won the game?
